What you've all been wondering

In the past while we have been hearing this question a lot: "WHAT are you feeding that guy? He's so BIG!" Well, here you have it. The picture says it all.

Actually, Addison really doesn't eat anything more or anything different than other babies his age - he is just a strong, solid boy. Ok, and maybe a little chubby too, but babies are supposed to be chubby, right? In truth, we are getting a little tired of hearing "Wow, what are you feeding that guy?", as if we are pumping him full of cake and cookies, or just pumping him full of food, period. We even had one doctor tell us that we didn't have to offer him food every time he cried. Come on, I believe we are better parents than that, and it really bothers me that he would think I just offer Addison something to eat to keep quiet instead of assessing his real needs. Needless to say, that little (or not-so-little) munchkin is over 27 pounds and only 8 months old. He is wearing 24 month clothes....we know he's big, but we don't need to hear it repeated over and over! In truth, he does not eat everything in the fridge, but does have a serious fascination with it. He was thrilled at this particular time to actually be given the opportunity to stand and look inside to his heart's content for a few minutes, perhaps scoping out the possibilities for the future.

I can understand your frustration, Susanna - it must be very annoying. I'm just happy for you that you have a healthy boy. As long as he's allowed to regulate his own intake, he'll be fine. It's when grownups start to mess around with withholding or pushing food that problems start. He's beautiful!
